ROCK and roll, rain, hail or shine.
The annual Cooly Rocks On festival on the southern-end of the Gold Coast revs up for their grand launch tonight and despite torrential weather being forecast, the show will go on.
“We have a wet weather back-up plan,” Cooly Rocks On spokeswoman Melanie Hoad said.
“We’ve already set up a marquee on the street just in case it rains.
“We will be rocking on — no matter the weather.”
The event will see more than 1300 pre-1970 cars park along a 2km stretch on Marine Parade in Coolangatta.
The boys from SEVEN82MOTORS, which specialises in sales and restorations on 1950s, ’60s and ’70s collectable cars, will cruise in style into the festival, which runs daily through to June 13.
Ben Atkinson, who has been operating the Nerang business for more than 10 years, said he had a handful of classic low riders on display which were sure to get the engines of old-school rev heads going.
“We regularly do buying trips around Australia and the US in search of new vehicles, so we’ll definitely have some hot and different cars on display,” Mr Atkinson avid.
“We’re thrilled to be part of the festival and reckon people will love our custom cars.
“It’s a great vibe at Cooly Rocks On and just puts a bunch of like-minded people into one area.
“Everyone appreciates cars.
“It’s a big celebration of old school cool.”
‘King of Cabaret’ Eddie Daniels, Melbourne rockabilly group The Flying Sauces and rock and roll singer Kris Knight are among a packed line-up of music entertainment across the week-long festival.
