How long have you lived/worked in Isle of Capri?
My parents moved to the Gold Coast when I was eight-years-old and I have been here ever since.

When did you start/buy 5th Avenue Jewellery?
My parents opened the store in Pacific Fair Shopping Centre when I was a child, and after leaving school I worked for them for 19 years before buying the business with my husband and moving it to Capri on Via Roma.

What made you decide to get into the jewellery business?
I have always worked with jewellery, I have vivid memories of my early years working in the business. Mum and Dad had the shop, along with many other interests, and at the age of five, I was answering the phone in the Adelaide store. In fact, I made my first sale when I was just past seven years of age and from that early age I was fascinated by gem stones. I design the pieces we sell and have named my collection Ti Amo, my father is very romantic and was always leaving gifts and a card that read ‘Ti Amo’ which means ‘I love you’ in Italian.

What is special about 5th Avenue Jewellery?
Every piece is a one-off, designed and manufactured in-house so it can never be repeated. I often wake up in the middle of the night with an idea which is why I always have some paper nearby.
To have a designer and someone capable of making any piece in-house is a very rare combination for a jewellery store. Most are essentially retailers but it is that bespoke element that enthrals and captivates my husband and I.

What is your favourite part about Isle of Capri?
It is an easy place for our customers and has undercover parking. We are able to give one-on-one attention to our clients, and we pride ourselves on always one of us being present in the store.

What does the future hold for you/your business?
My future plans are to expand my Ti Amo range, and really concentrate on magnificent gemstones and also multi-function pieces that give the wearer multiple looks from the one piece. This range is designed by me, and is lovingly crafted by my husband.
