Surfers Paradise becomes a playground of light, music and entertainment over two huge nights. Sea to sky will light up over Surfers Paradise beach in dramatic displays as nations compete for the 2019 SeaFire Championship title, from 31 May -1 June. Thrilling aerial spectacles will spark each night’s entertainment – stuntmen and skydivers decked in the brightest and loudest fireworks will fall from the sky, while jet skis will cut through the whitewash below, leaving a trail of light in their wake.
SeaFire 2019 is a celebration of multi-culturalism. With four nations competing in what is still Australia’s only international fireworks competition, you can expect to see world-class pyrotechnic displays off ocean barges, choreographed to musical soundtracks.
On Friday night, share in the national pride as teams from the USA, South Korea and New Zealand are welcomed into the Challenge Final by their national anthems. The winner of the fireworks round will go on to compete in the final round on Saturday against the reigning SeaFire Champion, Team Philippines.
Saturday night’s competition is a tribute to Australia, opening with a Welcome to Country by Luther Cora, leader of the Yugambeh language group, followed by the Australian national anthem and a cultural performance depicting Australia’s heritage. The two final teams go head to head in a fireworks frenzy, and the triumphant team will be named the 2019 SeaFire Champion!
SeaFire concludes with a bang as SkyLighter, Australia’s leading pyrotechnics team, light up the sky with an Australian exhibition piece.
Come in early and visit one of the precinct’s many inviting restaurants, bars or attractions, or park your picnic blanket in a prime spot for the fireworks. There is plenty of pre-entertainment to enjoy – Cavill Mall will feature multicultural acts in the late afternoon, with performance groups the likes of Bollywood, Balinese, Hula, Japanese Drumming, Korean Fashion and more.
