In the world of real estate, where trends come and go, and neighbourhoods evolve, having a constant presence is a rarity. Today, we celebrate an extraordinary achievement – 50 years of dedicated service by the Professionals Newlands’ longest-serving real estate agent, John Lloyd-Pugh. Through decades of changing markets, economic shifts, and evolving buyer preferences, Lloyd-Pugh has been the guiding force in helping our community find their perfect property.

A Journey Through Time: The Early Years

John Lloyd-Pugh embarked on this remarkable journey in real estate in December 1973, where days later, the Gold Coast was hit with the “Australia Day floods” in 1974.

In 1973 when he had just returned from England with his wife Jill Lloyd-Pugh, he initially looked for a real estate salesperson job in Brisbane, which instead recommended him to work on the Gold Coast, where he lived.

Lloyd-Pugh first joined John Jamieson’s team at Ray White, and eventually ran the ‘Highway office’ with his wife. When the six Ray White offices on the coast then merged into one, John was actively involved in the process.

Later, he moved on as the sales manager of Robina Realty, on the corner of Makeri & Rio Vista Street. Back then, Robina was beginning an incredible and drastic development project, which many doubted it would ever become something apart from a big pipe dream. Ron Penhaligon Way was only a dirt road, and the Grand Canal was yet to be dug!

Recognition & Newlands venture

During his career, John Lloyd-Pugh received great recognition, including the title of one of the leading agents in Australia, alongside the Real Estate supremo Max Christmas (Mr Gold Coast).

While working for Christmas, he met John Newlands, the soon to become principal and managing director of Professionals Newlands Real Estate. Afterwards, Lloyd-Pugh decided to work together with Newlands under the Professionals here in Surfers Paradise.

With a passion for connecting people with the perfect property to suit their needs, it was no doubt he would become a trusted figure, known for his dedication, integrity, and unparalleled knowledge of the local real estate market.
